Immerse yourself in the history and nature of Jebel Hafit at the newly constructed Jebel Hafit Desert Park.
Occupying a nine-kilometre stretch at the base of Jebel Hafit, visitors can enjoy the park’s natural surroundings and discover unique, fascinating archaeological and historical remains of the ancient habitation of this area.These archaeological remains include remnants of the Neolithic period 8,000 years ago to 5,000-year-old tombs excavated at the request of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, Founding Father of the United Arab Emirates, in 1959.
In 2011, UNESCO recognised the area of Jebel Hafit Desert Park as a component of the World Heritage Site of Al Ain, the United Arab Emirates’ first World Heritage Site.
Jebel Hafit Desert Park preserves this rich history and the area’s unique biodiversity. The park enables visitors to experience this dynamic landscape up close and to understand how it has changed over millions of years.
